The tuition available at the Education City Golf Club Centre of Excellence is provided by our outstanding team of PGA Professionals. The team is headed up by Martin Steel and has a wide range of experience and a proven track record with players at all levels. Martin Steel
Head PGA Golf Professional
Martin spent his formative professional years at The Metropolitan Golf Club located on the world renowned Melbourne Sandbelt in Australia. Martin then moved to the Abu Dhabi Golf Club, the host venue of the European Tour’s HSBC Abu Dhabi Golf Championship where he spent 6 years assisting to develop the academy. Martin is a AAA rated PGA Professional with the PGA of Australia and also holds Certification as a Golf Fitness Instructor with the Titleist Performance Institute. Martin aims to continue growing the game of golf in the State of Qatar, and develop his students to reach their full golfing potential. His golf coaching philosophies stem from extensive research and time spent with some of the industry’s leading golf coaches and high performance institutes. Martin delivers clear and simple concepts to his students ensuring they can practice efficiently and see results.

Rachel Choi
PGA Golf Professional
Rachel has been a member of the PGA of America since graduating with a professional golf management degree at the University of Idaho in 2015. Since the start of her career, her experiences include roles in private, resort, and administrative facilities. The highlights of her university internships are a summer at the PGA Headquarters in Palm Beach, Florida as a member of the Player Development team as well as working as the Junior Golf Director at the Western New York PGA Section where she ran over 40 junior and professional events. After 3 years as an assistant professional at Broadmoor Golf Club in Seattle, she decided to pursue a more teaching focused career and went overseas to the Els Performance Golf Academy in Hanoi, Vietnam. Her love for teaching has brought her to Education City Golf Club where she hopes she can continue to help golfers be the best they can be. Rachel is fluent in English and Korean.

Alex Day
PGA Golf Professional
Alex first got into golf in his hometown of Lichfield in the UK. As his passion for the game grew, he went on to represent his county at all levels, and after graduating from Gloucester University in 2001, decided to join the professional team at the Belfry. In 2005 Alex successfully completed his PGA studies achieving distinction grades in golf coaching and swing theory.
His first move overseas came in 2010 where he helped develop the first green golf course in Muscat, Oman. Following this, he managed and established an Academy to create a pathway from the junior programme to the National Squad. After 4 years in the Middle East, he moved to Russia where he supported in the development of another prestigious club and secured the first PGA education pro-gram at Zavidovo PGA National.
More recently Alex was appointed by IMG Golf Services for the development of its Academy at Dreamland Golf Club in Baku, Azerbaijan. Here he helped set strategic direction for the growth of the game and was successful in coaching Azeri’s into representing club and country at international amateur tournaments.
Alex firmly believes in offering a holistic approach to his coaching. He has achieved ‘Advanced’ PGA status, is TPI level 2 certified, and continually attends coaching conferences to further his knowledge and professional development. He has worked successfully with complete novices through tour professionals.

Simon Westney
PGA Golf Professional
Simon is a class A Level 3 qualified British PGA professional, born and raised in Sheffield, England, fully qualified for over 15 years, during which time he has been honing his coaching skills in different parts of the world, including spells in United Kingdom, Qatar, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates.
Simon has a wealth of experience in coaching and has always looked to develop his knowledge through coaching seminars and certifications, most recently achieving TPI (Titleist Performance Institute) Levels 1,2 and junior certifications, which enables him to assess a players’ physical capabilities as well as other important areas of the game. Simon has a flexible yet structured approach to his coaching, appreciating the fact that all golfers are different, with his coaching philosophy being ‘coach the player, not the method.’

William Lambert
PGA Golf Professional
William has over 14 years experience as a PGA Professional and has a B.A. (Hons) in Applied Golf Management Studies.
He spent 5 years in Cairo working as Head Professional at The Allegria by Greg Norman. He then returned to London working as Head Professional for over 6 years. William is TPI certified, K-Vest certified and has vast experience using launch monitors. Will enjoys teaching all levels of players and continually strives to make a long term impact on all golfers.
